Modifying Fuel Tank for Holley Sniper EFI

If you’ve followed my videos for a while, you’ll know that we’ve struggled with a leaking fuel tank on the Hornet for years. At some point something dented the tank, causing a crack and leak any time we put more than half a tank in it. On PowerTour in 2022 just outside of Memphis my JBWeld fix broke loose and we spewed about $70 in fuel on the highway; it was really cool, lol.

With the current rebuild the time has come to replace the crusty leaking old tank with this beauty from Spectre (part # AMC1 through RockAuto.com) – bonus here is that this tank is about 22 gallons, as compared the the original 15ish gallons, which should make road trips like PowerTour a bit more enjoyable.

Using Holley Sniper EFI, it is necessary to modify the fuel tank to accept the Sniper fuel pump module. My initial plan was to and drop the module in place, which worked but that caused the fuel pump and lines to be pressed against the trunk floor, which was less than ideal. My solution was to cut a channel in the tank to recess the pump module and allow me to run the fuel lines out from the side, where I can then follow the factory routing up to the engine compartment.
